It was her wedding and her choice of dress. Freedom is doing what you want not what others dictate you to. Sometimes people prefer doing something different or unusual, the main thing is they are happy and having lots of fun.

In fact, I don't like her dress because it was not traditional and kind of unusual but I respect her choice. I feel sorry for her because of some nasty remarks. I don't mean to offend anyone else.
